In addition to the application in petroleum and chemical industry, another extensive application of welded plate heat exchanger is to be used in the food and beverage industry like edible oil.
Welded plate heat exchanger with plate bundle made of stainless steel can be used in the soybean deodorization line.
Process of sucrose production
In this case, welded plate heat exchanger is used to transfer (recover) as much heat as possible from the soybean oil that is leaving the deodorizer (yellow line) ,transferring it (the heat) to the oil entering the deodorizer (blue line).
This arrangement would drop the temperature of the deodorized oil (yellow line) from 240ºC down to about 100ºC (or might be 120ºC) whereas the edible soybean oil that is going to the entrance of the same SHE (blue line) increases its temperature up to about 200ºC. in the SHE 3 the edible oil (blue line) increases its temperature up to 245ºC by the separate action of thermal oil (Para therm) heated at 255ºC.
Finally the deodorized soybean oil (yellow line) transfers some heat to the entrance (blue line) in an existing "coraza" HE.
