Most of the end covers of shell and tube condensers used on land are made of cast iron, and they are also made of welded parts and steel plates. End caps for sea water are usually made of brass or stainless steel.
There are several zinc rods on the left and right sides of the condenser end cover used on the sea to prevent electrochemical corrosion. When selecting the type, the area should be at least 10% - 20% more than the designed area. Sometimes, the area should be 50% more than the designed area when cleaning is difficult or the water temperature fluctuates greatly.
Using seawater as cooling water, the water source is very rich, the water volume is larger, the temperature difference of water is relatively small, generally 2 ~ 4 ºC; the water consumption of this kind of condenser is generally 0.5 ~ 0.9m3/h.
